From Pistoia

For a few years now we, Youth for a United World of Pistoia, have started organizing “aperi-dinners” (aperitifs and dinner) for solidarity, the proceeds of which were intended for our projects throughout the world; these also served to raise awareness among our peers on some issues and, obviously, to spread the ideal of a united world. On the occasion of the Genfest, we thought of organizing one which had the dual purpose of giving a concrete contribution to cover the costs of the event and of presenting it to our friends and to all those present, through videos and experiences. So, we rolled up our sleeves and set the date, the 13th of March, also involving the families in the community of Pistoia, which has helped us substantially in the preparation of the dinner. The evening was a total success! In spite of various “technical” problems and unexpected events at the last minute, about a hundred young people attended the event, including us gen from Florence and surrounding areas. The hall had been prepared with much love and colored paper roses; the dinner prepared by the community consisted of savory pies, pizza, schiacciata, barley and cold plates; a local group also played live music. After dinner and before the dancing, we projected one of the videos on Genfest and explained who the Y4UW are and what their “spirit” is. Seeing a strong response to the event and to the evening has been much joy! United in building bridges, we hope to come in many to Budapest.
